There is only a hint of iridescence in this twill fabric, which was woven at too close a sett.

Quilting thread at 60 e.p.i. made a good warp for a 2/2 twill fabric with wonderful drape, woven with a finer sewing thread for weft.

Ribbon

Because ribbon is flat, a shiny ribbon can be an excellent reflector of light, and weaving with ribbon can produce wonderful iridescence. It is available in a virtually unlimited range of colors and many widths and made of many different substances, ranging from woven fabrics in natural yarns to plastics.

Keeping ribbon flat while you weave can be a challenge; the flatter it remains in the fabric, the better it will reflect light. Most weavers use ribbon as an accent, rather than as the main component of a fabric.
